Prof. Shreekant Malushte

Prof. Malushte has been serving as the Director of the Satyam National Academy of Photography (SNAP) for the last twenty-three years. He has been associated with prestigious societies in India and abroad, and has significantly contributed in the field of journalism and photography.

Prof. Malushte has served as the President of Photographic Society of India (PSI); General Secretary of Camera Club of India (CCI) and Secretary of the Federation of Indian Photography; and was awarded with honorary memberships at reputed journalism and photographic societies. He was awarded an Associateship at the Royal Photographic Society of Great Britain (ARPS) for high standard of photography. He is presently hold membership with the American Press Association.

Prof. Malushte has taught digital photography photojournalism to over fifteen thousand students at various academic institutions such as SNDT University, Academy of Applied Art, Indian Institute of Photography, Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay College of Journalism, Mumbai Patrakar Sangh, St. Xaviers, Ruia, Mithibai, Ruparel, KJ Somaiya and Rizvi College. He also served on the advisory board of Kala Academy of the Municipal Corporation of Greater Mumbai.

A physicist by profession, Prof. Malushte retired as a Head of the Physics Department from Maharashtra College, Mumbai. Along with teaching, he was actively involved with theater, and served as the co-founder of dramatic association “Abhivyakti” to produce Experimental and Creative Dramas. Under his leadership and guidance, several dramas were awarded at state and local competitions. He then went on to play a character role in the National awarding wining movie “27 Down”. During his tenure as a professor, he also served as the lieutenant of Maharashtra 1 Naval Unit for five years.

Prof. Malushte served as a regular columnist for Times of India, Sunday Mid-day, Loksatta, Mumbai Sakal and Maharshtra Times for almost 10 years. He published a book titled “Chhand Chayachitrancha” which received the “Best Book’ award at the Kokan Marathi Sahitya Parishad. His recent publication – an autobiographical book titled “Asa me Tasa me” has received a lot of appreciation. Prof. Malushte is extremely passionate about his work and continues to spread his love for photography in the community.
